Counselling for Depression and Anxiety in Portsmouth

Depression and anxiety are among the most common reasons people come to counselling. You might feel low, flat or hopeless, or find yourself caught up in worry, panic or racing thoughts. Whatever it looks like for you, it can affect your sleep, your relationships, your work and how you feel about yourself.

How counselling can help with depression and anxiety

  • Being heard: Counselling gives you a safe, confidential and non judgemental space to talk openly. Simply being listened to, without being judged or rushed, can bring real relief.

  • Understanding what is going on: Together we can explore what might be feeding your low mood or anxiety, such as past experiences, pressures or patterns that keep repeating.

  • Finding your own way forward: In person centred counselling I won't tell you what to do. Instead I will support you to discover what helps you cope and what changes feel right for you.

  • Building confidence and self compassion: Many people find they become kinder to themselves, more confident and better able to face challenges as counselling goes on.

  • Working alongside other support: If you are also seeing your GP or taking medication, counselling can sit alongside that. If you need a different kind of help, I will talk with you about other options.

Everyone's experience of depression and anxiety is different, and counselling is shaped around you. If you are struggling in Portsmouth, Southsea, Havant, Waterlooville or anywhere in Hampshire, I offer face to face sessions locally and online counselling across the UK.
