FAQ's
What is counselling
Counselling is a confidential talking therapy that helps you explore your thoughts, emotions and experiences in a safe and supportive space. It gives you the chance to understand yourself better, develop coping skills and make positive changes.

How do I know if counselling is right for me
If you are feeling overwhelmed, anxious, stressed, low in confidence or stuck in any part of your life, counselling can help. Many people also come to counselling for support with relationships, work pressures, addiction, anger or grief.

Is counselling confidential
Yes. Everything you share is kept private and confidential, except in very rare situations where there is a risk of harm. This will always be explained clearly at the start of therapy so you know what to expect.

What happens in the first session
Your first session is a welcoming conversation where we talk about what has brought you to counselling and what you would like to achieve. You are never expected to share anything you are not ready to discuss. It is simply an opportunity to get to know each other and decide the best way forward.

How long does counselling last
Sessions usually last fifty minutes. The number of sessions varies for each person. Some people notice changes after a few sessions, while others prefer longer term support. We review progress together so the counselling always fits your needs.

Do I need a referral from a GP
No. You can contact me directly without going through a doctor or any other service.

How much does counselling cost
Each session is priced clearly on my website. There are no hidden fees and payment can be made easily. If you have any questions about cost, you are welcome to ask before booking.

Do you offer online counselling
Yes. Online counselling is available for people who prefer to talk from the comfort of their home. You only need a private space and a good internet connection.

Can I stop counselling at any time
Yes. You are free to end counselling whenever you choose. It can be helpful to talk about this in a session so we can finish in a comfortable and supported way.

What issues can counselling help with
Counselling can support a wide range of concerns including anxiety, stress, low self esteem, addiction, anger, relationship difficulties, bereavement and many day to day life challenges.

What if I feel nervous about starting
It is very normal to feel unsure before your first session. Many people feel this way. My role is to offer a calming, non judgemental space where you can talk openly at your own pace.

How do I book a session
You can contact me through the website, email or WhatsApp. Your details are always kept private and confidential.

What qualifications do counsellors need in the UK
Counsellors in the UK usually complete professional training and are often members of accredited organisations such as BACP or NCS. Membership means they follow strict ethical and professional standards.

Can counselling really help
Yes. Counselling has been shown to reduce anxiety, improve confidence, strengthen relationships and help people cope with life more effectively. Many clients say they feel clearer, lighter and more in control after working with a counsellor.
